I was also encouraged to take baths to soak things and help with healing.

I was encouraged to have a bath after my three kids… expecially helps with stitches down below – just dont put any baby bath in and salt is good for healing if you had stitches.

You can bath straight away, even with stitches.

i would ask you doctor because i thought it was like 2 weeks. but ask your MD. and she will let you know. and no there arent any exceptations. you have to heal down there and bath water gets dirty, no matter how clean you are.

About 1-3 weeks your dr should be able to tell you. (After the heavy bleeding stops, you will know)
good luck!!

you can bath as soon as your stitches are out. If you don’t have any then you can bath any time.

Personally – I wouldn’t have a bath untill you stop bleeding at the least. Remember that your cervix remains open for a little while after the birth. If the cervix is open then their is a higher risk of infection when having a bath. Best advice is consult your Dr.

I had a bath immediately after the birth of my 3 children, well not IMMEDIATELY! It was nice just to lay in the warm water and relax, you don’t have to do any scrubbing!
I had stitches twice and none the last birth, the water is good for keeping the area clean, but you must make sure you are nice and dry after, I wafted down there with my hand, or you could use a hairdryer on cool/warm for a little while, at arms length.
If you experience ‘piles’ after the birth, a bath can be soothing for those also, oh, I almost forgot, it was a little sore for me whilst going for a wee, so I used to quickly run a shallow bath and wee in there, it stops the stinging.

I took a bath in the hospital after the baby was born, the Dr. recommended it to help me relax!

I was never told not to take a bath after the birth of my 3 daughters. I was encouraged to take baths to heal when stitches were used once.
If you were told different then you should give your doctors office a call and have it clarified through them.
