When you’re dealing with boys and potty training, you need to accept that you’re actually going to have to go through the process twice. This isn’t because boys don’t catch on quickly or are less interested than girls. It’s more that even though many of the same experiences and methods apply to both, boys have two separate functions to learn. To toilet train a boy, you’ll need to teach him to sit down for bowel movements, and then he’ll have to learn to stand up for urination.

General potty training advice seems to be that it’s wisest to start the boy sitting down for both functions. This has nothing to do with his being a “sissy” or learning to “pee like a girl,” and should never be thought of that way. Remember that the entire process of learning to use the toilet is already a big thing for boys, and potty training only becomes more complicated if they have to learn too much at once. Learning to sit for bowel movements and then stand up and aim for urination may simply be too many new tasks to absorb at the same time.

Remember also that a bowel movement will often occur simultaneously with urination, so the basic initial toilet training can be mastered for both functions first. Once that is learned, then the extra task can be taught. For boys and potty training, it may be advisable to use a toilet seat reducer from the start, with accompanying step stool, because you’ll need to use the toilet itself once the child starts standing up to pee. A potty on the floor would probably involve too much splashing. Or you might use the alternative of a small urinal in a stand, or one that attaches to the side of the toilet bowl.

Whatever you choose, it’s clear that boys and potty training will involve a few more steps than training for girls. Girls are unlikely to face quite so many logistical issues; sitting versus standing, toilet versus potty, and so on. Another thing to consider if your child is in day care is whether they potty train a child the same way you do. If your boy gets mixed messages or methods, then he may have a difficult time. All these considerations are things you need to work out, preferably in advance, so your child’s potty training adventure can proceed as smoothly and successfully as possible.

Bringing home a baby is a very exciting time for any parent. We’ve been anticipating this moment for years, or at least a few months. Preparing the nursery, ahead of time is always a smart decision. First of all, you don’t want any paint smells in the room when your little baby comes home.

Choose your color is as soon as the gender of the baby is known. Then, paint it soon after. If you don’t know what the gender will be, choose neutral colors for the walls and decorate a room with different accessories that will suit either gender. You can even find bedding collections that are in colors that will be for both boys or girls.

Take as many precautions as you can when it comes to the baby bed. Make sure there have been no recalls on the particular furniture you have chosen by doing your homework.

In your attempt to decorate the room, always leave some room for a rocking chair. This is the place that you will be instilling feelings of security in your baby. Furthermore, he or she will understand that there is safety within his or her own room. It’s a wonderful way to comfort your infant.

Singing to your baby is always recommended. It is a great way to soothe him or her and get them back to sleep. Playing a gentle lullaby or ballad on a Ibanez acoustic guitar can also go a long way to relax a very stressed out baby. You can really make a huge difference.

Try to understand what your baby is feeling. Colic is a very real and very common problem with infants. Unfortunately, it can drive everyone mad, including the baby. During this time, most people in the home will not be getting any sleep. That means that there will be very edgy people in your household, even the baby.

Finding ways to soothe your baby is recommended. There are all-natural herbs that you can give your child who may be suffering from colic or teething pains. These are much more recommended than giving them pain relievers.

In addition to that, you may hear others that say let them cry it out. It isn’t always the best situation or the best solution. In fact, it may make your child feel more insecure down the line. It also may lead to night terrors in the future. Babies need love as well as knowing that their caregiver is there for them whenever they need them.

I’m not pregnant, but maybe I soon will be, and I just want to make up a choice already and not wait til’ I am finally pregnant.
So what would you prefer, I would hate the pain, but I don’t want to be all selfish and drug up my child. Maybe even feel what I was inteded to feel during birth.
What do you think, or what have you had an what do you think about your decision or what you had??

I have had 2 natural births. I suggest, first of all, that you educate yourself about childbirth. Read some books (including ones that are pro-natural). Before I got pregnant, I thought I would get an epidural….Why not, right? But then I read about how it can slow down the natural process, and the drug does get to the baby. So I decided to try for no drugs and just see how it went. Ultimately, you have to give up control and just let your body do what it needs to do if you go natural. Some people have a problem doing that.
If you do decide to try for natural, make sure you choose a supportive physician. I recommend a midwife.
Yes, “feeling” what childbirth feels like is an amazing thing. What was remarkable for me was how, as soon as the baby was out, all the pain was gone, I just felt total elation, and so proud. But I won’t lie, it was excriciating.

Infertility Symptoms – Definitions

A couple is infertile when they are unable to have a baby after 12 months of regular and unprotected intercourse. Infertility is the incapacity to reproduce.

Couples have different reactions to the news of being infertile. Extreme reactions often come from couples who are childless.

Infertility, in couples that have never had a child, is referred to as primary infertility.

On the other hand, secondary infertility describes the condition wherein couples who have successfully become pregnant once are having difficulties in getting pregnant again.

The Male Factor

Several emotional and physical factors can cause infertility.

“Male factors” like hormone deficiency, low sperm count, impotence, retrograde ejaculation, environmental pollutants and scarring from sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) cause roughly 30 to 40% of infertility cases.

Frequent marijuana use and intake of prescription drugs like cimetidine, nitorfurantoin, and spironolactone may affected sperm count.

Femaleness

Ovulation dysfunction, fallopian tube abnormality, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, scarring from STDs, hormonal imbalances, pelvic infection, poor nutrition, and tumors are just some of these “female factors.” These are responsible for 40 to 50% of infertility in couples.

Risk factors contributed by both the male and the female, in addition to other unknown causes, comprise 10 to 30% of infertility cases.

It is projected that just 10 to 20% fail to get pregnant after trying for one year. It is very important for couples to try having a baby for at least 12 months.

Age Influenced Factors

Healthy partners both below 30 years of age having intercourse regularly only have a 25 to 30% probability every month to become pregnant. Women in their 20s are at the peak of their fertility. Women above 35 years of age have a less than 10% chance of getting pregnant, and this declines as they get older.

Other Non Age-Related Factors

Factors related to age are not the sole reasons for infertility. Infertility may also be increased due to the following:

* Multiple sex partners (increases risk for STD)
* STIs
* Pelvic inflammatory disease history
* Males with history of orchitis or epididymitis
* Men who’ve suffered mumps before
* Varicocele in males
* A health history including DES exposure (males and females)
* Eating problems among females
* Irregular menstrual cycles and anovulation
* Endometriosis
* Uterine problems or a blockage in the cervix
* Long-term disease like diabetes

Many couples, especially would-be parents, are always extra careful when it comes to buying accessories for their babies. They would always make sure that their children would get the best of everything considering that having a child is a significant experience.

Acquiring a Stokke Care Changing Table is no exception. This table promotes direct contact with your child. It also strengthens parent-child bonding. It permits you to change your baby face to face thus avoiding you having to stand on the side of the table. You can also use this for a longer period of time. And if the time comes when your child is growing older, you can still make the table into a toddler’s work table or into a bookshelf.

Below are the perks of purchasing a Stokke Care Changing Table:

1. It is safe. The Stokke Care Changing Table meets and complies with all international safety standards. It also provides you with the reassurance and peace of mind that your child is not only safe but is also secure.
2. It is sturdy. The Stokke Care Changing Table is made from beechwood. This particular material possesses durable, strong and elastic properties that ensures your child’s safety.
3. It is adjustable. This item is very easy to adjust and assemble as your child grows. The Stokke Care Changing Table also has adjustable shelves where it can be raised. It also allows adequate room for your feet so that you can get closer to the child thus, enhancing interaction and communication. Further, the table can also adjust to two different changing height which reduces your need to bend when working. In this way, it can also reduce the strain on your lower back and shoulders when changing your child.
4. It provides a wide range of accessories. Stokke Care Changing Table provides practical storage containers that can be placed on either side and at any height of the table. It allows you you to store and reach changing items such as diapers, baby wipes and powder. Aside from this, the table can also be turned into a small desk as your baby grows. The desk shape and size is ideal for two children to engage in recreational activities like playing games or drawing. Aside from this, the table can also be converted into a bookshelf or a larger school desk. Thus, your child can use this when he begins to engage in writing or reading activities.
5. It is hygienic. The mattress is made of polyurethane foam and has an acrylic-coated cotton textile that is water repellent. The curved shape prevents it from sliding off, and the weight of the mattress helps it stay in place. At the top, the mattress has a barrier for extra safety. It also provides a safe, dry and non-slip surface for your child. It is highly durable and retains its form and shape.

Thus, the durability and environment-friendly quality of Stokke Care Changing Table makes it a good buy.With its variety of colors and affordability, this product is worth it.

It will be fun but stressful to prepare for a new child, especially if your budget is limited. Often, before you even begin to decorate a room, buying the basic nursery gear can put a strain on your bank account.

Baby bedding can be so expensive that it will make you laugh out loud or feel so hopeless that you are tempted to abandon the search for the right style and color. Fortunately, linens tend to be sold as parts of larger sets with many items, so that you can decorate your new nursery without going over your budget.

Girl baby bedding sets can be found in virtually any style, from classic to modern. Usually, they will include window coverings and other accessories so that parents won’t have to shop around to find exact matches. While many of the sets you can find on the web are only made up of essential crib linens, they may also give you the choice to buy more matching accessories, typically from the exact same retailer.

With the economy in mind, it is not surprising that sales of bedding sets have soared in recent years. Most of the time, the decorative linens are hypoallergenic, so you don’t have to sacrifice safety or style. This bedding conforms to conventional measurements for cribs and tot beds, so it is going to be very safe for your baby daughter.

Knowing that a bedding set purchase will allow you to make a lovely, welcoming room for you new daughter, it is time to select the perfect ensemble. Many parents want to decorate their nurseries with just one color. Create a peaceful, stimulating environment using monochromatic sets with striking detail and texture.

While an all pink girl’s room is a tried and true tradition, it’s certainly not the only choice. Ivory crib bedding is an example of simple baby bedding. Another option to design your area in an uncluttered and peaceful way is to use ivory baby bedding. Snowy white linens that are perfect for newborn daughters often come with eyelet, lace, embroidery, or quilted patterns so as to create a dazzling nursery for the little bundle of joy and those who come to see her.

WHO is pregnant? Oh boy! Let’s have a baby shower! Although generally secrecy is attempted, most moms have a sixth sense about these things. The excitement of luring the unsuspecting expectant mom to the shower often involves planning just short of military strategy. This is a testament to the love and friendship that the shower participants feel for the new mom. The sense of affection is the most valuable aspect of the shower. Yes, the parents-to-be will get a stack of supplies for the New Addition. But more importantly they will realize that they will not have to face their new venture alone. They will witness their friends gathered around to pledge their support. Some of their friends may have their own children. This gives them a special status as mentors and passers-down of baby stuff

The secret planning pays off and the mom- to- be walks into the ambush. There is fun and laughter as everyone explains his role in the clever deception. Some ice breaker games soon have everyone on a first name basis and the routines set down for baby showers are enacted.

If she was unsure about whether she could rely on her friends for support, mom now realizes that they are all there for her and her baby. Tips and advice on baby care are soon shared. Mom starts to feel that she just may be able to pull this thing off

With military precision the shower rules are followed. The note-taker writes down who gave which gift. The hat designer sews ribbons and bows on an improvised hat for the mom to wear. This would all seem pretty silly to the uninitiated. But it has been done this way for so long because it works. Throughout the evening, the mom understands in her heart that she has reliable and knowledgeable friends who have her best interests in mind. They will do what she needs them to do when the baby arrives.

Experienced parents seem to give the most useful gifts. They show up carrying huge containers of daily diapers They know the safety value of a wireless baby monitor They buy. A baby bath and the hooded bath blankets to go with it. These folks know what is required.

Young people usually do not know the finer details about what a new mom needs. Their gifts tend to be prettier but less practical. But these youngsters will fearlessly offer to push the stroller around the block twenty times while mom has a shower and a break. Their contributions will be as useful as anyone else’s.

Although the baby shower may have the appearance of a crazy ritual carried out by hysterical females, the hilarity disguises a very important message to the new, first time mom. She knows that the people involved are her friends. She can rely on them to help her cope with motherhood.

First, here are some significant infertility statistics: In the US, about 7.3 million women aged 15-44 years received infertility services ranging from the determination of causes to the application of advanced technologies. Around 3.8% were provided with ovulation drugs; 1.1% received artificial insemination.

Of course, there are other aspects of the statistics related to infertility. In fact, the issue of infertility is so complex that it is not yet fully understood, despite the advances in modern science and technology, although we do have sufficient knowledge to ensure a higher than average success rate.

Coping with Infertility

When you are part of the infertility statistics, there is absolutely no need to go into a state of desperation, helplessness and panic. You have many treatment options available, thanks to the advances in science and technology as well as new knowledge coming in from research.

It is essential that you discuss treatment options with your physician, especially where your partner is concerned. You two will want to agree every step of the way because infertility can place great stress and strain on your relationship. And we are not just talking about the emotional toll. The financial costs are burdensome in themselves, no thanks to the high costs of fertility medicines, tests and procedures. Thus, the need for infertility insurance but that’s another story altogether.

It is vital that you communicate well with your partner and with your doctor. View infertility statistics with the realization that some will never have children while others will find it very easy to have many children.

Even consider the benefits of becoming part of an infertility support group. This will allow you to share experiences with others with the same challenge, get useful information and find sources of new treatments while gaining hope from the success of others. Consult with your local fertility clinic for referrals.

Indeed, infertility is a physical impairment that can be triumphed over with the right medical care, the right partner and the right attitude. And throw in a little bit of luck, too.

Exploring Infertility Treatments

With your partner’s active participation, it is so much easier to explore all the infertility treatments available today. You will be able to understand the roles that each one plays in the conception cycle and, hence, become better able to conceive.

These alternative treatments include fertility drugs like comiphene, human menopausal gonadotropin, follicle-stimulating hormone, human chorionic gonadotropin, gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogs, aromatase inhibitors, and metformin; surgery to remove fallopian tube blockages; and assisted reproductive technology like in vitro fertilization, electric or vibratory stimulation, surgical sperm aspiration, intracytoplasmic sperm injection and assisted hatching.

Success in overcoming infertility depends on many factors like the technique itself, the woman’s age and physical condition, as well as the sperm motility of the man. Broadly speaking, women younger than 39 years of age are more likely to become pregnant – the rate is 22% – while it drops to 10% for 43-year-old women.

Still, any chance at getting pregnant is definitely better than no chance at all. Just use all the resources and information available to you and soon enough, you and your partner will become pregnant.

—————————————————-

My first was 100% natural. It hurt but i was quiet and calm through the whole thing.My second was 10 times worse, so I had gas and pethedine, and it was still worse than the natural one. They shut the labour ward doors becauseIi was screaming so loud! I could not believe the difference in pain between the two. If I have another baby, I wont decide if I use drugs until I am going through it. I tried to go natural with the second, then just thought, why? Nobody is going to give me a medal, I am suffering, bring on the drugs. So overall, I think it really depends on each persons situation.

First time I used gas and air and pethidine (not by choice, there was no epidural available).
The gas was just a joke, did nothing for the pain and above all made me vomit and too completely exhausted to push. it also made me delirious.
The pethidine just made me dizzy and had no effect on the pain. if you have a long labour like I did, then these methods are crap.

Second time I went without anything for about 20 hours and an epidural became available by chance since the anaesthesist came in to do a c section for someone and I begged for it. the epidural was absolutely fantastic, it completely takes the pain away. after 2 hours they wouldn’t top it up so i went back to natural for the last 2 hours. in the end the birth was so much better, i bonded and recovered much faster.

Having twins this time and am really hoping that an epidural will be available. otherwise ill go cold turkey.

I had originally bought the Graco 6-speed swing, but unfortunately, the motor burned out after two months of use. But that’s fine, because it gave me an excuse to go buy a Fisher Price Papasan Cradle Swing.

Things I love about this swing are:

The motor is EXTREMELY quiet. As mentioned previously, I had the Graco 6-speed swing, and the “clunk click clunk click” noise it made was unnerving. The Fisher Price Swing motor is so quiet that I can barely hear that it’s even on!

It’s great mobile! Not only does the whole thing rotate, but each leaf, bird and bug actually moves, too! Flap up and down leaves, and the bird/bugs rotate and spin, as if they are seem flying! My baby coos at the mobile, and I think she likes the shiny mirror on the underside of the mobile.

The seat seems like it is very nice for my baby. I call it the “Celeste Nest” because it looks so comfy and soft! It is nice and big and has enough room for her to spread out in it when she falls asleep. It even has a nice pillow so her head doesn’t roll around.

It has removable toy tray. This is awesome, because my baby sometimes gets “mad” at the toy tray because she’s overstimulated and just wants to sleep. I can take it out of her way so she can get his comfort to take a nice long snooze.

Need i say anything more about music volume control?!?

And, of course, the option to either have your baby swing from side to side (cradle) or straight ahead is very nice! The cradle swinging option really soothes my baby nicely.

My minor gripes about the swing are:

The mobile and music shut off automatically after seven minutes. So every seven minutes, I have to get up and press the reset button to start it going again. Whatever happened to the PARENTS getting to decide when to turn the music and mobile off?

The big puffy headrest is awesome and it’s not removeable. It is a little too puffy and restraining, and it bends my baby’s ears forward. It’s hard time turning her head, because it is so snug to her face. This make her frustrates and start crying, because my baby loves to be able to look around and see what’s going on.

The seat only has two positions–reclined or upright. it still doesn’t sit my baby up very much when I put the seat in upright position.

Toys on the toy tray are kind of lame–there are two plastic arched bars that each have two plastic toys on them (brightly colored flowers and bees). My baby likes this cradle swing just ok, since they don’t rattle or make noise, she loses interest in them fast. Then there is the turtle rattle toy in the center. attached by a strap that is attached to the toy tray underside. My baby often drops this toy in her lap over and over, each time requiring me to dig it out of her lap and position it back in its spot on the tray. I wish the rattle toy mounted onto top of toy tray so she could bat at it without dropping it. Hey, at least this swing comes with toys on the toy tray, unlike the Graco 6-speed model!

All in all, this is a really great baby swing. It’s neutral color scheme and should match any color. Yes, this fisher price swing is pretty expensive, but I think for the quality of the swing, it is worth it. You must buy Fisher Price Papasan Cradle Swing
