First time I used gas and air and pethidine (not by choice, there was no epidural available).
The gas was just a joke, did nothing for the pain and above all made me vomit and too completely exhausted to push. it also made me delirious.
The pethidine just made me dizzy and had no effect on the pain. if you have a long labour like I did, then these methods are crap.

Second time I went without anything for about 20 hours and an epidural became available by chance since the anaesthesist came in to do a c section for someone and I begged for it. the epidural was absolutely fantastic, it completely takes the pain away. after 2 hours they wouldn’t top it up so i went back to natural for the last 2 hours. in the end the birth was so much better, i bonded and recovered much faster.

Having twins this time and am really hoping that an epidural will be available. otherwise ill go cold turkey.

Things I love about this swing are:

1. The motor is EXTREMELY quiet. As mentioned previously, I had the Graco 6-speed swing, and the “clunk click clunk click” noise it made was unnerving. The Fisher Price Swing motor is so quiet that I can barely hear that it’s even on!
2. It’s great mobile! Not only does the whole thing rotate, but each leaf, bird and bug actually moves, too! Flap up and down leaves, and the bird/bugs rotate and spin, as if they are seem flying! My baby coos at the mobile, and I think she likes the shiny mirror on the underside of the mobile.
3. The seat seems like it is very nice for my baby. I call it the “Celeste Nest” because it looks so comfy and soft! It is nice and big and has enough room for her to spread out in it when she falls asleep. It even has a nice pillow so her head doesn’t roll around.
4. It has removable toy tray. This is awesome, because my baby sometimes gets “mad” at the toy tray because she’s overstimulated and just wants to sleep. I can take it out of her way so she can get his comfort to take a nice long snooze.
5. Need i say anything more about music volume control?!?
6. And, of course, the option to either have your baby swing from side to side (cradle) or straight ahead is very nice! The cradle swinging option really soothes my baby nicely.

My minor gripes about the swing are:

1. The mobile and music shut off automatically after seven minutes. So every seven minutes, I have to get up and press the reset button to start it going again. Whatever happened to the PARENTS getting to decide when to turn the music and mobile off?
2. The big puffy headrest is awesome and it’s not removeable. It is a little too puffy and restraining, and it bends my baby’s ears forward. It’s hard time turning her head, because it is so snug to her face. This make her frustrates and start crying, because my baby loves to be able to look around and see what’s going on.
3. The seat only has two positions–reclined or upright. it still doesn’t sit my baby up very much when I put the seat in upright position.
4. Toys on the toy tray are kind of lame–there are two plastic arched bars that each have two plastic toys on them (brightly colored flowers and bees). My baby likes this cradle swing just ok, since they don’t rattle or make noise, she loses interest in them fast. Then there is the turtle rattle toy in the center. attached by a strap that is attached to the toy tray underside. My baby often drops this toy in her lap over and over, each time requiring me to dig it out of her lap and position it back in its spot on the tray. I wish the rattle toy mounted onto top of toy tray so she could bat at it without dropping it. Hey, at least this swing comes with toys on the toy tray, unlike the Graco 6-speed model!

All in all, this is a really great baby swing. It’s neutral color scheme and should match any color. Yes, this fisher price swing is pretty expensive, but I think for the quality of the swing, it is worth it. You must buy Fisher Price Papasan Cradle Swing

Recently there have been studies published saying that it is not ok for a baby to sleep in a carseat because of breathing difficulties that it can cause while sleeping. I know several parents, myself included, that have let their children sleep in their infant seats and haven’t had any problems, just so you know that there are risks and make an informed decision. I no longer allow my youngest (seven months) to continue sleeping in his seat, if he is sleeping in his seat when we come in from the car I remove him, I would rather have an awake baby then a dead one. Over-Pronation is often referenced  as ‘flat feet’. It occurs when the arch of the foot flattens for example when being forced to endure extra weight. The result of this can be that walking is experienced as extremely painful. It can additionally  increase strain on the feet, calves and back.

Edema which is also known as swelling in the feet, can also pose a problem in the later months of pregnancy. The primary  reason for feet becoming swollen is the  displacement of water fluid within the body.

So then,  what can be done to alleviate suffering from these conditions and to assist you  in having a more enjoyable pregnancy.

· Have a rest – put your feet up

Take every opportunity to rest and elevate your feet. If you find yourself  in a position where you have to sit for extended periods of time then rest your feet on a stool to provide elevation.

· Encourage your feet to breathe.

Healthy feet need a breather – avoid any  footwear or socks that  may constrict your feet.

· Keep active

Taking regular exercise will both improve your overall physical health and aid circulation? If you do  find that  you have to sit for long periods of time build in occasional `walk abouts` so as to aid circulation.

· Regularly check your foot wear throughout your pregnancy.

Your feet will change and grow, so have them measured regularly throughout your pregnancy.

· Watch your diet

Try to avoid foods that are high in salt as these will result in water retention. A healthy well balanced diet can result in a much happier pregnancy with healthier supportive feet.

My baby girl would only sleep on her belly from about 7 weeks on… she was 6 weeks early. If we would lay her on her back she would just start screaming. To this day she sleeps on her belly. At first, I was VERY paroniod and would scheck on her constantly, now we just let her sleep all they way through… she is now 5months. I think you just have to do what you feel comfortable with doing as a parent. Every child is different and a mom always knows best.
